Ballyboughal National School Extension

The project involved the construction of a new classroom single storey 3 extension to the existing Ballyboughal National School.

The extension was constructed using traditional load bearing masonry walls that supported timber roof trusses. Reinforced concrete frames where provided to the large openings in the elevations with a concrete ring beam at eaves level.

The ground floor solution consisted of a traditionally reinforced concrete slab over insulation on a radon barrier.

The existing playground was refurbished and in addition a new junior playground was installed.

Whilst the majority of existing site drainage was combined the new drainage for the extension and the new junior playground was designed as a separated system. The new foul system connected into the existing combined system on the site and the stormwater was directed into a new soakaway in the landscaped areas.
