Thomas Byrne graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2011 & 2013 achieving Distinction and First Class Honours in Bachelor of Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering degrees. Thomas was awarded the G&T Crampton Centenary Award in 2012 and 2014 for his performance in his degrees. In 2021 he was awarded the title of Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Engineers Ireland.
Thomas began his career working as a site engineer with Ward and Burke Construction. He worked on a range of different Public Works Contracts across Ireland, including wastewater treatment plants, water supply schemes, watermain rehabilitation and sewer networks. He gained valuable experience on site which he draws upon in his current role.
In 2015, Thomas transitioned to Eireng Consulting Engineers as a graduate engineer. Since joining the firm, Thomas has developed extensive experience in planning, design, project management, co-ordination, and supervision of the construction of a range of public and private projects such as hotels, healthcare, commercial, industrial, education, residential and office projects. Thomas regularly acts as Employers Representative and PSDP for our public and private client base in Ireland. Thomas places a high value on communication during a project and as a result has developed and maintained healthy working relationships with clients and projects teams which he feels is key to consistently delivering his projects.
In the UK, Thomas has extensive experience in logistics infrastructure design where he has successfully designed and managed civil engineering input for large logistics projects for some of the UKs leading online retailers. As a result of developing this specialist knowledge he provides civil consulting services to a leading online retailer in developing their design criteria and specifications for the facilities.
Alongside leading design teams within Eireng Irish and UK offices Thomas also mentors graduates in the Eireng Irish office placing a particular importance on experiential learning within his mentees continued professional development.
