EirEng association with Nsobe School Trust – Zambia

EirEng first became involved with the School Trust in Nsobe when our former Managing Director, Terry Sheehan, visited in 2022 as part of an Irish Sports Club Charity Build. EirEng saw an opportunity where they could make a difference in this community by providing design and construction expertise to raise the building standards while respecting local practices. We set about defining a building program that addressed the educational needs and social of the school, the teachers and the local support workers.

Since that initial visit over twenty projects have been completed from three primary classroom blocks with nine new classrooms (funded by St Benildus School) to housing and secondary school projects funded mainly by groups associated with Cuala GAA club. In addition, staff housing was completely upgraded to reasonable standards through the generous donations of the ‘Friends of EirEng’. Other parties like the Beit Trust and the Irish Goverment have played their part in project funding as well.

EirEng continues to provide the required design and technical (and regular financial) support to the current and future projects in Nsobe and we consider this to be one of our favourite projects and a great opportunity to give something back.
