IPUT Real Estate Dublin have achieved an incredible redevelopment of the historic Tropical Fruit Warehouse, overlooking Santiago Calatrava’s landmark, Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin’s Docklands.
The two warehouses, originally built in the 1890’s, have previously been used for the import of tropical fruit and for U2’s studio and storage. Now the iconic building has been dutifully revamped as an office space, with the first new occupants being the tech giant TikTok.
The intricate masonry work of the original warehouse is topped with a clean-cut modernist glass box, designed by Henry J Lyons Architects.
EirEng were employed directly by the steel fabricators on the job, SRS, to provide steel connection designs in keeping with the architectural features of the exposed modern interiors.
We worked closely with the primary engineers on the job, Torque, to understand the connection forces involved and to provide economic and practical solutions to SRS. We also provided SRS with support on temporary works and designing secondary steel elements.
